111” is large scale work meant as an accompaniment to Red Mass’ previous album, A Hopeless Noise. Said work features 111 songs separated in 11 volumes released on labels all over the world (Italy, Greece, France, Ukraine, USA, Canada). Each volume is an album in itself and will first be released in limited quantity on a physical format (EP, tape, CD, vinyl postcard). All volumes will eventually be released digitally as the complete work. Each of the 11 volumes represents one type of personality and has its own artwork, themes and songs executed in one particular genre. The genres tackled are folk, garage punk, black noise, synth based compositions and industrial music. In Red Mass’ previous release, A Hopeless Noise, the main protagonist suffers from a multiple personality disorder. “111” explores the idea put forth by author Grant Morrison that instead of a single personality complex, we should adhere to a multiple personality complex allowing us to relate more to others, adapt more easily and possibly even avoid a large scale societal psychosis. “111” features mostly new material recorded over the last 12 years.
